Postponement of routine operations and clinics

Posted: January 4, 2018

Important information for patients

The start to any new year is always challenging, and to ensure we are able to continue providing safe and timely care to those who need it most, we have followed national advice of postponing routine operations until the end of January.

Urgent procedures, such as those for cancer, will not be affected and we are hopeful that the majority of day surgery cases will also go ahead.

Elsewhere, some outpatient clinics planned for January have also needed to be postponed.

These decisions are never taken lightly and, although all operations will be rearranged as quickly as possible, we know that any change can cause unnecessary upset and worry, and for this we apologise.

Affected patients will be contacted in the coming days, however anyone booked to attend hospital in January should come in as normal, unless they have been contacted and told otherwise.
