Industrial action by junior doctor members of the British Medical Association (BMA) will take place from 7am on Friday 11 August, until 7am on Tuesday 15 August.
The industrial action is part of the union’s ongoing dispute with the Government related to pay and working conditions.
Throughout this period, our priority will be to deliver as much safe patient care as possible, however it is expected that our planned activity will be disrupted by the industrial action.
Members of the public are asked to use local health services wisely. Hospital may not be the best place to be seen for your treatment needs, so please contact NHS 111 online in the first instance for advice and guidance. In an emergency, you should always contact 999.
As we work to protect our emergency care, it will be necessary to cancel some planned treatments, procedures, and appointments. Every patient affected will be contacted at the earliest opportunity.
Some on-the-day cancellations may be necessary but where we do need to rearrange your appointment, you will be contacted directly.
If you do not hear from us, please attend the hospital as planned.
Everyone affected will have their alternative appointment or treatment date arranged for as soon as is possible.
This dispute is a matter between the Government and British Medical Association; however, we know that it addresses issues of real concern. We continue to hope that a resolution is reached soon.
