First spade in the ground marks start of construction for Integrated Front Door

Today, we marked the start of the urgent and emergency care development - our new Integrated Front Door - with a ground breaking celebration.

Trust Executives joined colleagues from the Way Forward Programme team, Unscheduled Care Division, and our contractor partners Integrated Health Projects and Rider Levett Bucknall, to formally mark the start of the construction project with the first spade in the ground.

You can see more about the ground breaking here:

Over the next 18 months, a new Emergency Department will be built, and existing space will be refurbished for a new Children’s Emergency Department and improved Same Day Emergency Care.

The Integrated Front Door, which is a £31.8million development, will help right-size the organisation for the growing population of Swindon and Wiltshire.

The development will support new ways of working and better patient flow, meaning staff will be better able to manage increased Urgent and Emergency Care demand.

The construction is expected to be completed by summer 2024.
