Throughout February, the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is supporting LGBT+ History Month by asking our patients and staff to discover more about the lived experiences of LGBT+ people (Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans).
This year, LGBT+ History Month is focusing on LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to cinema and film from #BehindTheLens by claiming our past, celebrating our present and creating our future.
Education is central to reducing discrimination, and so we’re asking our local community: How well do you know your flags?
We are proud to share a small selection of the many colourful LGBT+ flags which represent different communities and the meanings behind them.
The different flags highlight the huge diversity within the LGBT+ community, reflected both within our own workforce and the wider community.
More information about the origin and meaning behind more of the flags representing the LGBT+ community, can be found here.
If you have a disability, sensory loss, impairment, or if English is not your first language, we can help you access information about our services.
