Winner of the Inclusive & Safe Workplace Award

We are the proud winner of the Inclusive & Safe Workplace Award in the NHS Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Improvement Awards.

As one of 15 trusts across the country celebrated, the NHS England panel noted the remarkable standard of projects submitted as we work to create a culture of compassion and inclusion.

This recognition means we will become an exemplar workplace, with our work to improve equality, diversity and inclusion shared nationally to inspire other NHS organisations.

There is still more we need to do, but this shows we are making good progress to building a welcoming, inclusive and compassionate workplace for disabled people.

Next year we will begin training staff to become Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champions in partnership with our Differently Abled Network.

Our improvement work focuses on a set of 10 metrics which make up the Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES).

The metrics help NHS trusts compare the workplace and career experiences of disabled and non-disabled staff working across the country. They focus on areas such as the board, recruitment, bullying and harassment, engagement and the voices of disabled staff.
