Inside our new Emergency Department

As we mark one year since we successfully secured £30million of funding for our urgent and emergency care development, we are pleased to share a sneak peek inside our brand new Emergency Department.

Set to open in just a few months’ time, the new ED will have a 60% bigger footprint than the existing department, more majors cubicles and resus rooms, and two dedicated relatives rooms.
Later in the autumn, we’ll also be opening a new Children’s Emergency Unit bringing together children’s emergency care with paediatric assessment, and will be moving Same Day Emergency Care and the Medical Expected Unit into the existing Emergency Department space which will have been refurbished.

Our charity, Brighter Futures, are also currently fundraising for the extra special touches needed in the new Emergency Department, and there are lots of opportunities for local people to get involved in raising money this year.
