Our Trust-wide approach to improvement has been shortlisted in the Quality Improvement Initiative of the Year category of the Health Service Journal Patient Safety Awards 2024.
This new way of working is bringing people together – from consultants, nurses and therapists, to pharmacists, scientists, cleaners and receptionists, and everyone else – to focus on making positive changes.
This evidence-based way of working is being introduced to teams across the Trust and the approach is flexed to suit the individual needs and style of each team, with many teams holding regular improvement huddles.
Feedback has been extremely positive with teams saying that Improving Together is giving more people a voice, improving communication and morale, while ensuring improvements are led by the people who know best.
Gradually, it’s becoming part of who we are as an organisation, with the latest staff survey results showing that more than half of staff now feel able to make improvements in their area (55.31%), compared to 49.36% in 2021.
Across the Great Western Hospital and in the Swindon community, large and small changes are improving the experience of patients and the working lives of staff.
