We are shining a light on our brilliant healthcare scientists and the important role they have in modern patient care.
We are proud to have more than 300 healthcare scientists working in different specialities across the Trust and we rely on their expertise to determine up to 80 per cent of all diagnoses.
Healthcare scientists work in fields such as pathology, cardiology, radiology, audiology, microbiology, among others, playing a vital role in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a huge number of medical conditions.
Healthcare Science Week (11-15 March 2024) brings together over 50 scientific specialisms and professional groups to celebrate and raise awareness of this diverse NHS workforce.
It’s also an opportunity to talk about the difference they make to patients' lives and inspire the next generation of healthcare scientists by promoting the fascinating career opportunities.
Watch the video below to see what some of our healthcare scientists say about their chosen profession.
