Good environments matter. Every patient should be cared for with compassion and dignity in a clean, safe environment. Where standards fall short, they should be able to draw it to the attention of staff and know that the organisation will work to make improvements.
PLACE assessments give local people and patients the opportunity to review our hospital environment, and make suggestions for how the spaces could be enhanced. This includes assessments of how the environment supports the provision of clinical care, looks at areas such things as privacy and dignity, food, cleanliness and general building maintenance and, more recently, the extent to which the environment is able to support the care of those with dementia or with a disability.
Full training will be provided before assessors are invited on site.
All feedback is reviewed by our teams, and we work with the patient and public assessors to make necessary improvements to our environments which will have a positive impact on the care provided.
PLACE assessments will be taking place across Great Western Hospital on Monday 11 November, Tuesday 12 November and Tuesday 19 November 2024.
