Many of our staff are Dementia Champions - a point of contact and source of advice for patients, visitors, carers, volunteers and colleagues.

Jupiter ward is a dementia friendly ward and discreet systems are in place in others to make sure staff are aware which patients have dementia and so might need special support.

Adaptations have also been made to bathrooms to make them more accessible and easy to use.

This is Me booklet

If you are accompanying a relative who has a memory problem or a diagnosis of dementia, you may be asked to complete a This is Me booklet.

This will help our staff better understand and care for your relative during their stay, and should be brought in when they are admitted for surgery.

A blue butterfly will be attached to the patient notes and ward documentation to alert hospital staff that the patient has a This is Me document.
