The aim of the Infectious Diseases in Pregnancy Screening Programme is to ensure that women with hepatitis B, HIV and syphilis are identified early in pregnancy.

All pregnant women will be offered screening for all three conditions.

The programme is an important way of preventing the transmission of hepatitis B, HIV or syphilis from mother to baby.

Early detection can help to treat the mother and protect the baby.
